The Background

Lendlease has been working in partnership with Southwark Council to deliver a £2.3 billion regeneration of the Heygate Estate in South London’s Elephant & Castle region. The scheme known as Elephant Park will provide 3000 new homes and well as retail and commercial space.

Specification and Brief

A well-engineered glazing system that was above all, robust, acoustically effective and visually pleasing was required for use in the communal areas of this primarily residential development.

The architects AFK Studios has selected Komfort Polar 100 with Sonik doors as the design solution.

The Solution:

As trusted and long-established Komfort contractors, Leandlease appointed Interco Contacts under the Komfort Partner Programme as the supply and install specialist for the glazed screens on the project.

Early appointment allowed Interco to advise on technical issues relating to the integration of the screens into the fabric of the building and to liaise with Komfort and provide working drawings for the installation and to manage the installation process. The screens were installed on time and on budget.
